Scaling Drone Data: Delair Introduces Unlimited Plan for Cloud-Based Drone Photogrammetry

September 18, 2019 by Miriam McNabb 6 Comments

This industry announcement at InterGeo this week, from French drone company Delair, demonstrates some major industry shifts.  Delair has announced that they will now offer a subscription-based unlimited plan for their cloud-based drone photogrammetry and data management.

The announcement is interesting for several reasons.  Delair has been a major industry player for a long time.  Originally known as a drone manufacturer, Delair is one of the largest examples of a company shifting its focus to meet the needs of their large enterprise customers.  Delair is now described as a leading provider of visual data management solutions – a real example of shifting focus from  drone hardware and towards the elements most valuable to enterprise: the data, and the associated workflows.  (The unlimited plan will be available to users of the Delair’s UX11 fixed wing drone as well as DJI Phantom 4 and Mavic Pro customers.)

Secondly, while unlimited subscription-based plans are common for large enterprise software offerings, like customer management programs or ERP systems, they’re relatively rare in the drone industry.  That Delair has introduced the plan is a testament to the scaling of drone operations in enterprise organization, and the amount of data that those operations are producing.

The following is a Delair press release.

DELAIR INTRODUCES AN UNLIMITED PLAN TO PROVIDE FLEXIBLE ACCESS TO  CLOUD-BASED DRONE PHOTOGRAMMETRY AND DATA MANAGEMENT

Plan offers unlimited use of the delair.ai cloud platform for maps and 3D models, collaboration, data storage, photogrammetry, and manual analysis at a fixed low monthly rate.

TOULOUSE, France – September 17, 2019 – Delair, a leading provider of visual data management solutions for enterprises, today announced its unlimited photogrammetry plan, available through its cloud-based delair.ai visual intelligence platform. The flexible plan offers a fixed-monthly subscription fee to access delair.ai to create digital maps and models, while managing the data on a secure and scalable cloud architecture which supports additional functionalities such as data sharing, advanced analytics, annotations, and more. The plan puts no limits on the number of users or volume of data processed on the delair.ai platform, providing a cost-effective and predictable model for users to collaborate and share data from anywhere and at any time, without the cost and complexity of licenses and access fees, extra computer equipment, and data storage.

The unlimited plan is available to users of the Delair UX11 fixed-wing drone as well as the DJI Phantom 4 and the DJI Mavic Pro quadcopters. It supports a seamless workflow from data acquisition to processing, and is built on the powerful delair.ai platform which provides access to advanced industry-specific analytics tools.

“Today’s drones are capable of capturing very large volumes of highly detailed data and images, which presents challenges both in terms of data management as well as storage. The delair.ai visual intelligence suite allows users to easily create and interact with the digital twins of assets and derive meaningful insights from the images collected. This plan gives companies worry-free and simplified access to critical processing tools without significant upfront costs, allowing for cost savings on user licenses or potentially additional servers. The monthly subscription is a predictable operating expense that simplifies the cost and accounting involved, while still providing as much processing capacity as users need,” said Chase Fly, Geospatial Product Manager at Delair.

The delair.ai photogrammetry suite includes engines from both Pix4D and Agisoft, offering a flexible and efficient way to create professional quality map products from images and visual data captured from drones. Users can upload geotagged images directly from the drone, tag ground control points, and adjust and stitch photos to create a wide range of photogrammetry deliverables. Specific capabilities include the ability to generatehighly detailed maps and accurate measurements from visualization tools for orthophotos, digital surface models, 3D point clouds and 3D mesh, slope maps and change maps, and digital surface model contours. In addition to the core platform included in the unlimited plan, delair.ai offers a library of AI-based advanced analytics on a pay-per-use basis.

The unlimited program is effective immediately. For more information on delair.ai, view our website here.

Delair will be displaying it integrated solutions at the2019 INTERGEO  September 17-19 in Stuttgart, Germany – Booth #A3.062.
