Consistent with the Military Doctrine, C-UAS has become a high-priority, and the budget/funding allocation is 3x-5x increase over only a few years ago. A reinforcement that the DOD is acutely sensitive to the impact enemy drones are having on the battlefield – and taking action (cross-military lines). Replicator has drawn some criticism from the industry, in terms of, being biased towards certain classes of drone providers and having lofty goals – however the actions being taken are on-target and confidence has grown. It’s clear that Replicator is a beginning not an end – and must continue to be complemented by other Initiatives and organizations that are focused on minimizing the threats. Although the primary focus today is on the battlefield/contested environments and protecting the War Fighter – it is clear that these threats will extend to the commercial/civilian segment. That may become a tougher challenge. Good, useful and timely article – DRONELIFE.
